XPRIZE Quantum Applications Team Summit
The XPRIZE Canada Hub and Quantum City hosted XPRIZE Quantum Applications Finalist Teams for presentations, keynotes, and conversations focused on translating quantum algorithms into real-world impact.
The XPRIZE Quantum Applications Team Summit was welcomed to the University of Calgary in partnership with Quantum City and the XPRIZE Canada Hub from August 19 – 21, 2026. XPRIZE Quantum Applications is a $5M four year competition where teams are challenged to develop quantum algorithms ready for deployment as hardware advances, designed to tackle complex problems in health, climate, energy, and materials science with global impact.
The Team Summit was an opportunity for Finalists to challenge assumptions and pressure-test ideas while connecting with others to define what quantum computing can make possible. Taking place at Quantum City's qHub, on Day 1 teams heard a keynote from Dr. Catherine Lefebvre, Senior Advisor at the Open Quantum Institute at GESDA, and Dr. Barry Sanders, Professor and Scientific Director of Quantum City exploring the future of quantum applications.
On Day 2, XPRIZE Canada Hub National Director Sarah McCullough, University of Calgary Vice-President (Research) Dr. William Ghali, and Quantum City Managing Director Dr. Megan Lee welcomed attendees. The XPRIZE Canada Hub then presented The Funding Breakthrough Technologies panel which brought together Ania Sergeenko, PhD of Thin Air Labs, Manuel Garcia of UCeed, Yasmine Al-Hussein, MBA of Yaletown Partners, and Mats Løkebø of SevenTrain Ventures for a conversation moderated by XPRIZE Quantum Applications Technical Prize Director Joshua Baktay.
